SRINAGAR, Apr 27 :The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Tuesday reported biggest ever spike of the season  as 3164 new cases were tested  positive cases, highest ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic last year, pushing the number of active cases to 22,283 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before.

Twenty five more deaths were reported in J&K in last 24 years taking the death toll to 2,197 and the active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 3,164 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday pushed the tally of positive cases to 166,054.

Of the exact number of 166,054 cases, 99,715 are from Kashmir and 66,339 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 3,164 new cases, 2,134 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,030 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 99,715 including 84,925 recoveries and 1,354 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 66,339 including 56,649 recoveries and 843 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 22,283 including 13,436 from Kashmir division and 8,847 from Jammu division.

With 1,457 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 141,574 which is 85.25 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,144 from Srinagar, 197 from Baramulla, 174 from Budgam, 70 from Pulwama, 97 from Kupwara, 143 from Anantnag, 123 from Bandipora, 66 from Ganderbal, 90 from Kulgam and 30 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,030 from Jammu division include 489 from Jammu, 65 from Udhampur, 68 from Rajouri, 41 from Doda, 100 from Kathua, 98 from Samba,  30 from Kishtwar, 39 from Poonch, 40 from Ramban and 69 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 25 deaths reported today, died in GMC Jammu, 02 in SMVDNSH Katra, 01 in CD Hosp Jammu, 01 in GMC Rajouri, 02 Home (Brought Dead), 01 in Kidney & LMI Jhalandar, 01 in SJAS Nursing Home Surankote, 02 in SMHS, 03 in JLNM Sgr, 04 in SKIMS, 01 in GMC Anantnag.

As per officials figures, 40,538 positive cases including 513 deaths and 33,153 recoveries are from Srinagar, 11,968 including 192 deaths and 10,035 recoveries are from Baramulla, 9,994 including 8,845 recoveries and 130 deaths are from Budgam, 6,834 including 6,062 recoveries and 99 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,711 including 101 deaths and 5,948 recoveries are from Kupwara, 6,372 including 5,459 recoveries and 105 deaths are from Anantnag, 5,294 cases including 4,926 and 64 deaths are from Bandipora, 5,254 including 4,831 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 3,865 including 2,999 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,885 including 2,667 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 33,136 including 27,302 recoveries and 454 deaths are from Jammu district, 5,738 including 5,222 recoveries and 63 deaths are from Udhampur, 4,543  including 3,907 recoveries and 61 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,692 including 3,446 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Doda, 4,292 including 3,743 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Kathua, 3,432 including 2,863 recoveries and 46 deaths are from Samba, 2,903 including 2,813 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,856 including 2,578 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Poonch, 2,464 including 2,293 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Ramban and 3,283 including 2,481 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,767,815 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 94,418 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 22,283 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,527,650 persons have completed surveillance period and 121,267 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 7,125,036 samples are available. Out of 7,125,036 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,958,982 while as 166,054 have tested positive, among them 22,283 persons are active, 141,574 persons have recovered and 2,197 persons have died—(KNO)
