28th case of Mucormycosis confirmed

Srinagar, Jun 25: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Friday witnessed 07 deaths due to Covid-19 while 498 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 6,157.

With 07 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,291 and 498 fresh positive cases reported on Friday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 313,974

Of the exact number of 313,974 cases, 194,917 are from Kashmir division and 119,057 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency that among 498 new cases, 289 belong to Kashmir division while as 209 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 194,917 including 188,941 recoveries and 2,199 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 119,057 including 114,585 recoveries and 2,092 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,157 including 3,777 from Kashmir division and 2,380 from Jammu division.

With 871 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 303,526 which is 96.67 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 82 from Srinagar, 35 from Baramulla, 31 from Budgam, 13 from Pulwama, 44 from Kupwara, 21 from Anantnag, 15 from Bandipora, 16 from Ganderbal, 29 from Kulgam and 03 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 209 from Jammu division include 10 from Jammu, 09 from Udhampur, 11 from Rajouri, 25 from Doda, 04 from Kathua, 02 from Samba, 19 from Kishtwar, 16 from Poonch, 17 from Ramban and 96 from Reasi,” officials disclosed

Meanwhile, authorities on Friday said that one fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the total cases of Mucormycosis has reached to 28.

Out of 07 deaths reported today, 02 died in GMC Doda, 01 in GMC Jammu, 01 in DH Kishtwar, 01 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in DH Bandipora & 01 in SMHS Srinagar.
