Logs 1,400 positive cases, 4,092 recoveries in last 9 days
SRINAGAR, Jun 15: With the improvement in the COVID-19 situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the positivity graph in the northern belt has declined by a huge margin as the northern districts have reported a total of 1,400 cases and registered 4,092 recoveries in the past nine days.
The three border districts including Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara in the northern belt of Kashmir witnessed a huge spike in cases in the last two months and Baramulla district remained most affected due to the virus while Bandipora registered the lowest number of cases and deaths compared to kupwara which remained moderate.
According to the figures available with the news agency the three border districts in north Kashmir registered a total of 1,400 COVID-19 positive cases of which 591 were reported in Kupwara followed by 535 in Baramulla and 274 in Bandiproa between 6-9 June.
Figures also reveal that the northern belt witnessed the death of 15 COVID-19 positive patients of which deaths were reported in Baramulla, 5 in Kupwara, and only one Bandipora district between 6-14 June.
In much relief for the residents with the intensity of the 2nd COVID wave coming down the districts in north Kashmir successfully registered total recoveries of 4,082 positive patients.
Figures reveal that Baramulla district reported a total of 535 positive cases and a total of 1,690 recoveries from the virus between 6-14 June.
Kupwara figures reveal that the district registered a total of 91 positive cases while 1,016 positive patients recovered from the COVID-19 virus.
In the least affected district Bandipora the figures reveal that it logged a total of 274 Covid positive cases while a total of 586 patients recovered from the virus successfully.
The figures also reveal that the northern belt has a total of 2,209 active positive cases of which 1,045 are in Baramulla and 832 in Kupwara and only 32 active cases in Bandipora as of Tuesday.
Notably, between 1-9 June, the northern belt had reported a total of 2,047 cases of which the highest figure was registered in Baramulla district followed by Kupwara while a total of 3,986 had recovered from the virus.
A senior health official told KNO that the decline in the positivity rate is a sign of relief for the people and it means the intensity of the 2nd wave which was responded to timely by the authorities with appropriate arrangements had started to come down but people must adhere to all the precautions.
“People must adhere to the appropriate COVID behavior to combat this virus and also realize that phased unlock does not mean this pandemic is over”, he said.
Besides positivity and recovery rate the figures reveal that a total of 569,383 people have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 across north Kashmir of which 326,388 are from Baramulla, 103,467 from Bandipora, and a total of 139,528 from the Kupwara district.
Notably, the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have started further phased manner unlock with the improvement in Covid situation across the UT besides announced the weekend curfew and deputed teams to ensure SOP’s are followed to contain the further spread of the virus—(KNO)
