Cop injured in hit-and-run accident at Srinagar Airport road

SRINAGAR: A traffic cop of Jammu and Kashmir police was injured after being hit by a vehicle on an airport road in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said on Monday.

They said an SPO working with traffic police identified as Shahbaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, a resident of Budgam while performing his duties near Railway Bridge Humhama was hit by a vehicle leaving him critically injured. The injured cop was immediately shifted to SKIMS Bemina for treatment and his condition is stated to be ‘stable’, they added.

A police officer confirmed the incident and said the driver along with the vehicle has fled from the spot and searches have been launched to nab the driver. A case is also being registered in this regard, he said. (KDC)
