ANANTNAG: A civilian, hailing from Udhampur district, was shot dead on Monday evening at Ashajipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag.

Police in a tweet informed that a civilian identified as Deepu from Udhampur, working at a private circus mela at Amusement Park near Janglaat Mandi in Anantnag, was fired upon by the militants.

Police said that the injured was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, adding that a case has been registered while investigation is going on in this regard.

“#Terrorists fired upon one civilian namely Deepu R/O Udhampur working at private circus mela at amusement park near Janglaat Mandi in #Anantnag. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Case registered, #investigation going on,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

Meanwhile, the officials said that the security forces have reached the spot and a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
