The 24-hour hunger strike of Joint central contractors coordination committee (JCCCC) today began. They are demanding release of pending wages and revocation of the order in which govt has provided only 15% of payment to the contractors.

The protestors alleged that a total payment of Rs 719 Crores is pending with the government. “On top of that, Order Number 186 by the Finance Department of the state, states that the contractors will be paid only 15% of the payment from the treasury this month, which is an injustice to us,” protestors said.

They blamed HODs, Chief Engineers, DCs, Executive Engineers for the delayed and incomplete payment. Also, they said that the government claims that it has released the amount, but HODs have not further reimbursed it to the contractors.

“If the circular is not be revoked, we will close all the projects and boycott all the development works in Kashmir till the government takes a decision regarding our demands,” they warned.
