Civic bodies in Sopore launch Kabadd Sy Jugaad intiative to create best out of waste

SRINAGAR: Musarat Rasool Kar, President of Sopore Municipal Council, has come up with the ‘Kabaad Sy Jugaad’ initiative to create the best out of waste.

‘Kabaad Sy Jugaad’ initiative will help to overcome the problem faced by an accumulation of waste. The woman politician who is the daughter of Congress veteran late Ghulam Rasool Kar said that the initiative ‘Kabaad Sy Jugaad’ is to educate people to turn plastic trash into lovely baskets and usable items.

“It will curb its open dumping to a greater extent,” she said.

According to her, the effort of creativity can provide employment as well. “They will not only earn a dignified livelihood for their families but can help to save the environment from the menace of unattended plastic waste as well,” Musarat said.

She also hailed the efforts of the chief executive officer, municipal council Sopore for providing support and motivation to the volunteers. Kar said that many volunteers including female students have already joined her in supporting the initiative and are working on different themes.

She, however, pinned hopes that the number will increase and many more interesting things will come out.

Naira Masoodi, one of the volunteers, told that ‘Kabaad Sy Jugaad’ will help Sopore in tackling waste as the area is without a garbage dumping site.
