China’s bellicose global ascent!

China’s continuing imperialist and militarist aggressions-assertions not only over the LAC against India but also against Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and most of the countries in South East Asia has obviously become a grave threat to the peace and security of the entire world.

These besides, Beijing continues to maintain its effective hold over the entire South China Sea in Asia-Pacific by converting it into two districts apart from establishing its network of naval bases, involving military and commercial facilities, in Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in South Asia to port Sudan in the Horn of Africa. Its ambitious OBOR or the Belt and Road initiative is also a grand strategy for establishing its dominant presence across continents.

Similarly, China economy has considerably consolidated and also expanded to become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world with a GDP of more than $25 trillion. Further, Beijing has steeply raised its stockpiles of arms and ammunition, including nuclear weapons, to an amazing height and that has indeed become a cause of serious concern for all peace loving nations in the world.

Thus China has attained a significant momentum towards its ongoing empire building efforts with a view to assume unquestioned and unparalleled hegemony in all over the world. But it has unfortunately refrained much from the desired course of peacefully ascending the forward ladder of progress and instead taken recourse to unethical means – aimed at grabbing land areas, maritime channels and air space of other countries – for accomplishing this goal. As obvious, territorial unity and integrity are the sine qua non for each sovereign state and that ought to be respected by all of them in the international community of nations. That applies to China as well but it continues to violate this international obligation ever since its inception.

As evident, the burning question here is to how to deal with China’s mounting expansionist threats based upon its military power which have indeed become grave concerns for the peace and security of the whole world. Hence, the obvious way out for the lone super power and all major powers including regional and smaller powers in the world is to take some concrete and effective measures in a united way to erect a common front. This front has to simultaneously work in two directions: first, building an all-encompassing global ideological super structure; and secondly, it must be supported by the latest and lethal weaponry to account for mammoth military buildup. While this front must endeavour to unite all liberal and democratic countries into its fold for protecting and preserving the liberal-progressive ideologies in the world facing serious threats from the Chinese obsolete-monolithic-authoritarian People’s Communism, these democracies must obviously form an international alliance against China and its People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to effectively deter Beijing and must fight to finish if it (China) takes recourse to military options.

Further, this common front must devise for harshest sanctions against China under auspicious of the United Nations and these states must freeze their individual diplomatic relations with it. Again, China’s membership in all regional and global forums must be suspended. Similarly, this front must unite in General Assembly of the United Nations to improvise special provisions so as to meet the unprecedented crisis in the world created by China, with a view to restore peace and security in the whole world. The so-designed provisions may also aim at dismembering China from the UN including UNSC. And they must also work towards withdrawing their individual recognitions to the Chinese state. Although it is a very difficult task to accomplish as it requires revision of the some of the provisions of International Law as well as the UN Charter and also because China itself is a permanent member of the UNSC and will obviously veto any motion against it in the Security Council, yet some special provisions like the earlier Uniting for Peace Resolution in the wake Korean War in 1950-53, may be formulated with collective efforts pro-democracy members in the General Assembly. Further, China’s weapons, including nuclear weapons, must also be put under the UN control, lest it may retaliate in a hostile and crooked way because it is the most irresponsible and deceptive mighty power in the world which never holds its promises, nor respects its international obligations and always stabs in the back to achieve its desired goals.

Further, Chinese communist system appears to be the root cause of all these evils where lifelong presidency of Xi Jinping has added a new dimension. In fact, this obnoxious power concentration into one hand is indeed a grave threat to popular aspirations in China and that reflects in the arbitrary and aggressive behavior of its leaders since the very beginning. Evidently, such an ongoing dictatorial mess in China needs to be uprooted and instead the liberal-democratic socio-economic and political set up be promoted therein for which Chinese youths had sacrificed themselves at Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Thus all these measures taken together, China’s ongoing aggressions in all over the world can be considerably checked and it must be forced to fall in line along the global mainstream, characterized by liberalism and democracy. But if Beijing still persists with its imperialist and undemocratic policies and resorts to war, this front will be left with no option but to take recourse to befitting reply that China deserves.
