Children Hospital: Patients suffer in absence of medicine shops; have written to govt says officials

SRINAGAR: The patients as well as attendants here have been facing immense hardships in absence of parking facilities and medicine shops at the 500-bed Children’s Hospital in the Bemina area of Srinagar.

Various attendants said that there is no facility of parking available and even authorities aren’t allowing them to park vehicles along the roadside for a while.

Even attendants are forced to take their children in their laps to the hospital as no vehicle is allowed to enter the gate, they said, adding that there is no medical shop available near the hospital and attendants are forced to go near JVC hospital Bemina to bring medicines for their patients.

An attendant told that in absence of the medical shop near the hospital, they had to go to Sonwar in the dead of night to bring the medicines. They said besides lacking any medicine shop in the nearby area, the hospital has no sarai for patients.

They requested higher-ups to look into the matter at the earliest so that patients could heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent of Children’s Hospital Bemina Dr Nazir Choudhary told that the work on the parking slot is going on and within four days, it will be macadamized. About medical shops, he said they have already written to the government in this regard and said that the matter is not in his competency.
