Writes to SHO PS Shopian against The Daily Manch
SRINAGAR: The Chief Education Officer Shopian has sought penal action against the administrator of the Facebook page The Daily Manch for sharing a concocted story regarding unfair conduct of SSE (Class 10th) Examinations at BHSS Shopian.
In this regard, a letter has been forwarded to the Station House Officer, Police Station Shopian.
Kindly refer to the above cited subject. In this context it is to state that a self styled news page on facebook namely “The Daily Manch” aired a video broadcast on his page on 25th of March2023 evening, while interviewing a girl student and can be seen levelling false and furious allegations regarding the mis-conduct of SSE (Class 10th) examinations at BHSS Shopian, besides the staff on examination duty, and the institute without ascertaining the veracity of claims.
The said video went viral and was shared by thousands of social media users and since the perception in the story was completely false and one-sided huge resentment was generated in the public and mis-apprehensions regarding the conduct of the examinations spread across the District with many people questioning the sanctity of examinations.
The matter was inquired by the department, through the examination monitoring teams already deployed for the purpose and it has been found that the allegations leveled by this self styled journalist in the video are far from truth and reality and the story has been executed with malafide intentions to benefit certain students who have failed to attempt the question papers to their satisfaction in the Mathematics subject and to gain cheap publicity for the social media page, and despite the intervention of the Department and promise for investigation in the matter, a number of recordings of some girl student(s) taking with the administrator of the page were also made viral by the admin of the page and were later broadcasted by a number of social media handles with concocted content to cast shadows on the fair and transparent conduct of examination and bring disrepute to the Department and question the integrity of staff on duty.
In view of the above backdrop your good-self is requested to lodge an FIR against the admin of “The Daily Manch” facebook page for airing a concocted broadcast with malafide intention of defaming the credibility of staff who happen to have proven integrity besides bringing disregard to the sanctity of the examinations, and take strong penal against concerned to set a future deterrent among the negligent social media users, it reads.
Furthermore it shall also be ascertained whether this self styled journalist has requisite registration/ degree and his page and other similar pages operating on Facebook injudiciously shall be deactivated/ blocked immediately to stop the nuisance of this self styled journalism operating without any authority please.
