The central team led by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiraj Rijiju has been visiting the rain affected districts in Kerala to assess the rain damage.
Union minister said compensation will be given to the rain-affected people as per the criteria. He was speaking to media persons after visiting the flood-hit areas and the relief camps in Alappuzha district, which was badly hit by the incessant rain.
He added that 80 crore rupees has already been granted to the state. Minister said Centre and Kerala will jointly deal the situation and added that he will consider meeting the state’s demands over the calamity.
Union minister of State for tourism Alphons Kannanthanam, National Disaster Response Force member KR Jain, Chief Secretary Tom Jose and Home Ministry joint secretary Sanjeev Kumar Jindal are in the team. In the afternoon the team will visit the rain affected areas in Kottayam and Ernakulam districts.
