The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the investment sanction for construction of Kiru Hydro Electric Project of 624 Megawatt in Jammu and Kashmir.
The project will be implemented at an estimated cost of over four thousand 287 crore rupees. This will provide much-needed power in the northern grid and accelerate the process of development of remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The project is located on River Chenab in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir and will be completed in four and half years. The foundation stone of the project was laid by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3rd of February last month.
