Budding Jammu fencer makes into Aurangabad Centre of Excellence

Jammu, Nov 22:An upcoming fencer from Jammu district of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has made into the National Centre of Excellence, SAI at Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

14-yr-old fencer from Jammu, Jasdev Singh, has been selected for National Centre of Excellence at Aurangabad based on his performance in the 65th National School Games, 2019-20 Fencing Boys Under 14 held at Nadiad, Gujarat from February 15 to 19 this year.

The fencer is a regular trainee of Fencing Coach Rachna Jamwal of J&K Sports Council.

The fencer has secured third place (bronze medal) in the National School Games following which he was selected for the Centre of Excellence.

Proud parents, father Jatinder Pal Singh and mother Gagandeep Kour have expressed happiness on his selection saying that at this tender age he has worked hard.

“His hardwork, committment and guidance by his coach even in COVID pandemic helped him to come out with flying colours and he was selected for professional training to polish himself at this prestigious Centre,” said Ms Kour.
