Jammu: Following the ground reports regarding party image in Jammu and Kashmir, the Bahartiya Janta Party (BJP)’s unit of the Union Territory has reframed its strategy and launched a sustained hunt for influential political leaders, from any party whatsoever, to accomplish its mission to win more than 50 seats in upcoming assembly polls -whenever they are held.
“Top-level party leaders in Delhi are engaged in deep brainstorming after receiving ground information about resentment among the local people,” a party insider told The Dispatch.
“In the high-level meeting, it has been agreed to bring leaders with mass base in party fold,” he added.
He added that the central leadership believes that in order to win elections, it is necessary to bring a leader with a mass base into the saffron camp, irrespective of the party. Only then can the 50 plus dream come true.
After the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A, the party leadership was confident that the BJP would get a better environment in the state and a positive message could be given to the country and the world by forming the government.
After August 2019, the BJP also got success in the Panchayat and civic elections held in two years, but gradually the anger started growing among people due to inflation and other issues.
The kind of public outrage that came out openly in the meeting of senior citizen convened by the party in RS Pura area raised the eyebrows of the party.
Recently, the successful Jammu bandh on the call of the Chamber raised further concern.
A few days later, in a meeting of the BJP core group, it was decided to make a strategy to find its cut and reach door to door.
People’s issues and problems should be taken on priority.
Experts say that on the basis of feedback, visits of central leaders have also been decided so that welfare schemes can be reached to the general public.
BJP believes that at least in all 10 districts of the Jammu division, BJP should have a strong position to form the government in the Union Territory.
Right now the party needs to work hard to get seats in Muslim-dominated Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi.
In Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, there will be challenges from other parties including NC (National Conference), Congress, Apni Party and Panthers.
For this, a leader will be needed who can raise the voice of the rights and interests of Jammu, which emphasizes the sentiments of the people on unemployment and other issues.
