Bijbhera encounter ends, 2 militants killed

Duo was involved in killing TA soldier two days ago: IGP

SRINAGAR, April 11: Two militants were killed in an overnight gunfight at Semthan Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

Official sources told GNS that one militant has been killed in the gunfight which started late Saturday afternoon.

“The duo was responsible for the killing of Army jawan and were neutralized within two days,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. The operation, officials said, was suspended yesterday.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
