Jammu: Under the Government of India sponsored scheme ‘Upscalling of Aapda Mitra’ a valedictory function of 5th batch of 70 volunteers of Aapda Mitra Volunteers from districts Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, Ramban, Reasi, and Rajouri was held on Wednesday at Central Training Institute, Kot Bhalwal Jammu.
The batch of Aapda Mitra Volunteers commenced on November 26, 2022 at CTI HG/CD Jammu and was an in-house training of 12 days.
During the training programme, Aapda Mitra Volunteers were trained in Emergency operation, and search and rescue for being “Friend in Disaster” as Community first Responder.
Moreover Volunteers were also acquainted with Mountaineering Rescue training at Nud-Samba, water Rescue Training at Akhnoor, Fire Fighting Skill Training by Fire and Emergency services, practical demonstrations on Rescue operation at SDRF 2nd Bn.
Similarly, the 6th Batch of 12 days training progamme for Aapda Mitra Volunteers for all districts of Jammu province shall commence at CTI HG/CD Jammu from 11th December, 2022.
The valedictory ceremony was also attended by Randheer Singh, JKPS, SSP I/C Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn accompanied by Shri Mohinder Pal Dy.SP and Inspector Vishal Dubey. On this occasion merit certificates were distributed among the volunteers.
The Training progamme was supervised by Ashok Kumar Sharma Dy.SP, Principal CTI HG/Cd Jammu who was assisted by assisted by Inspector Sanjeev Kalsi, Sgct. Aman Singh and Sgct. Sohan lal of SDRF 2nd Jammu.
About Aapda Mitra Volunteers:
The scheme aims to provide the community volunteers with the skills that they would need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster thereby enabling them to undertake basic relief and rescue tasks during emergency situations such as floods, flash-floods and urban flooding.
