Basant Rath's suspension to continue for 6 more months

SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday said that Basant Rath, an IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, would continue to remain suspended for a further period of 180 days beyond 31.07.2023.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, in an order, said that the Central Review Committee, while reviewing the suspension of Basant Rath has taken into account the facts and circumstances of the case in totality and recommended the extension of his suspension tenure for a further period of 180 days beyond July 31, 2023, i.e., upto January 27, 2024.

“And now therefore, the President orders that Shri Basant Kumar Rath, IPS (AGMUT: 2000) shall continue under period of suspension for a further period of 180 days beyond 31.07.2023, i.e., upto 27.01.2024, in terms of Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal ) Rules, 1969,” read the order issued by MHA.

The IPS officer was placed under suspension on July 8, 2020, as disciplinary proceedings were contemplated against him—(KNO)
