Bangladesh approves emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccine

The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) of Bangladesh  gave approval for the emergency use of the COVID 19 vaccine Pfizer-BioNTech produced by the American Pfizer and German BioNTech companies .

This is the fourth COVID 19 vaccine approved for use in Bangladesh. Earlier, the government had approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII), Russian Sputnik V and the Chinese Sinopharm vaccines.

In another decision the government of Bangladesh has approved the purchase of 15 million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm Vaccine over the next three months starting June.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh reported 22 deaths and 1292 new Corona Positive cases in the country on Thursday. The death toll in Bangladesh has gone up to 12,480 and the total number of infected people is over 7.94 lakh. The sample positivity rate was recorded at 8.92 percent over the last 24 hours.
