Assam Polls: 269 candidates in fray in 1st phase of polls to be held on March 27

In Assam,  269 candidates are in the fray in the first phase of polls to be held on 27th of this month. Official sources said, 10 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.  Several heavyweight candidates are in the fray in the first phase of polls. Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal, President of Asom Gana Parishad Atul Bora,  State Congress President Ripun Bora,  Assam Jatiya Parishad President Lurinjyoti Gogoi, chief of Raijor Dal Akhil Gogoi would contest  in this phase.
The Congress and the BJP declared the lists of star campaigners.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi,  Party President J P Nadda , Union Ministers and senior leaders Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah are some of star campaigners for the BJP . For the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi , Priyanka Gandhi would  campaign for the party candidates.
