India has said that the arrival of the Russian COVID Vaccine SPUTNIK V will further augment country’s vaccine capacity and will also accelerate its vaccination drive. Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi has said that the Russian vaccine will add to the country’s arsenal to fight out the pandemic.

He informed that 1 lakh 50 thousand doses of the vaccine have been received in today’s consignment. Mr. Bagchi added that other larger consignments will also arrive soon. Highlighting more than a decade long India-Russia special & privileged strategic partnership, the spokesperson also informed of the plans to manufacture the Russian vaccine in the country on large scales.
