Army soldier injured in Bandipora encounter, evacuated 92 base hospital: IGP

BANDIPORA:  An army soldier was injured during a gunfight that broke out between militants and security forces in Shokbaba area of Sumlar forests in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday morning.

Inspector general of police Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said that a soldier was injured during the exchange of fire and has been evacuated to 92 base hospital Srinagar. He said that the operation was going in the area.

Earlier, officials said that a Joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after “specific inputs” about the presence of militants in the forest area of Shokbaba, in which two militants have been killed so far.

“As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. Exchange of fire is going on,” they said—(KNO)
