SAMBA: Averting a major tragedy, the security forces on Saturday neutralised an anti-tank mine it discovered in the Samba district, near the international border with Pakistan.
A patrolling party of the Border Security Force was on its routine patrol on Friday night when it found an old anti-tank mine near the International Border in Samba district, security officials said.
The rusted mine was detected along the banks of the Basantar river near Mawa village, they added.
The bomb disposal squad was called in on Saturday, which neutralised the explosive safely on Saturday noon, they informed.
