Amid spurt in COVID cases, Anshul Garg cancels permissions issued for holding exhibitions, fairs

Jammu: Following spurt in COVID-19 cases, the Jammu administration canceled permission issued for holding exhibitions and fairs.                       

“The organizers of these exhibitions shall wind up their operations within 24 hours and concerned Sub Divisional Magistrates shall submit compliance report to this office,” reads the order issued by DC Jammu Anshul Garg.

The order in possession of The Dispatch reads “it is not possible to serve prior notice of this order; it is as such being issued ex-parte. Any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005”.

 “it has been made to appear to me, in view of the situation emerging due to COVID-19 in District Jammu, that there is sufficient ground for proceeding under Section 144 of CrPC for immediate prevention or speedy remedy is desirable to prevent danger to human life, health or safety,” the order lies with the dispatch reads.     

“Whereas, Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and Disaster management Act, 2005 also empower the undersigned to issue certain directions for safety and preventing any harm to human life,” the order reads.

“Whereas, there has been a sudden spike in number of COVID Positive cases which are being reported in the district over the last few days and Whereas, the State Executive Committee of Department of Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction vide Government Order No 11-JK(DMRRR) of 2021 dated 30/03/2021, has issued revised guidelines / instructions, regulating activities within the Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir for effective containment of COVID- 19 w.e.f. 1st ‘.A.pril, 2021 to 30th April, 2021,” the order reads.
