LADAKH: Amid Covid resurgence in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the authorities have enhanced the COVID infrastructure in the region in view of the rising cases and prepared beds, Covid centers, and ICU beds to meet the upcoming challenges.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a senior health official said that the entire administration is keeping a close vigil on the current situation and arrangements are made as per the demand besides the Intense Care Unit (ICU), beds have been prepared also COVID centers and beds have been ensured.
He said that the region has a total of 1346 active positive cases of which 1205 are in Leh and 141 in Kargil. “Covid infrastructure has been developed and arrangements as per the requirements are being enhanced with time”, he said.
The official informed that 113 COVID positive patients have been admitted to designated hospitals among which 105 are in Leh and 8 in Kargil.
He said that a total of 235 patients are being treated at the COVID care center besides 717 are in home isolation.
Ladakh region since the pandemic has reported a total of 14226 cases with 11786 in Leh and 2440 in Kargil and 12735 have been cured and discharged.
Another official informed that a total of 1064 individuals have returned from Iran and 532 have returned from other foreign nations to Ladakh Union Territory.
He said that a total of 216 COVID-19 designated beds have been prepared of which 85 have been occupied while the rest of 131 are vacant, the official said.
He said that 288 isolation beds for positive patients have been prepared and a total of 1063 at COVID care centers in the region.
“72 Intense Care Unit (ICU) beds have been made available to fight the current situation and 24 among them have been occupied by the patients requiring them and 48 are still lying vacant”, the official said—(KNO)
