80 women had normal deliveries, 24 infected with COVID
BANDIPORA: Since the district hospital, Bandipora was notified as Level-III Covid hospital, around 98 pregnant women delivered their newborn babies at the hospital of which around 24 women tested positive.
Official data available with the news agency reveals that around 98 babies were delivered at district Hospital Bandipora since May this year, of which around 80 women had normal deliveries whereas the remaining 18 deliveries were caesarean sections.
The official data also said that about 24 pregnant woman were infected with the covid-19 while from May this year when the district hospital was designated as level-III for Covid patients no pregnant woman was shifted to a tertiary hospital in Srinagar.
An official said in addition, the health staff and doctors had also to treat Covid patients who needed oxygen at the hospital.
He said that no pregnant women have suffered since the district hospital was converted into the level-III Covid hospital by the administration.
The official said that sometimes blood was also arranged by hospital staff on their own for few pregnant ladies during deliveries.
“There was also a Covid control room running in the Hospital, where employees were on duty 24 hours to help the patients,” an official said. “The medical staff was having a hard time earlier, as one had to treat coronavirus patients and also handle pregnant women, ” an official said—(KNO)
