SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party President and former chief minister J&K Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday said that Amarnath Yatra is a “golden chance” for people of Kashmir to showcase real Kashmiriyat again.
“Kashmir has always disseminated message of brotherhood and unity as it is our age old tradition. So the upcoming Amarnath Yatra is a golden chance for us (Kashmiri’s) to showcase real Kashmiriyat again,” Mehbooba Mufti as per KNS told reporters here in Srinagar.
She said we had called our party leaders from south Kashmir’s Anantnag and central Kashmir’s Ganderbal districts and discussed role from our side in smooth conduct of the Yatra. “The party directed workers of these twin districts to facilitate Amarnath Yatra and welcome the devotees with open heart. I appeal my party cadres to assist the Yatra and welcome Yatris so that they do not feel inconvenience,” Mehbooba Mufti said.
She at the occasion appealed to the Government to take care of the concerns of local population also during Yatra period. “I appeal to the Government to ensure an atmosphere in which host Kashmir’s do not feel inconvenience. In past years, locals suffered lots of trouble in travel as many pregnant women delivered their babies on road,” she added.
Pertinently the annual Amarnath Yatra 2023 will commence from July 1st and will continue for two months. The Jammu and Kashmir Government has put in place adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
