Amarnath yatra: Fifth batch of pilgrims leave from Jammu base camp

The fifth batch of more than 4,000 Amarnath pilgrims today left for Kashmir Valley from Jammu base camp enroute to the 3,880-metre high cave shrine. So far, 13,816 pilgrims have visited the cave shrine from the twin routes – Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and Baltal route in Ganderbal- since the commencement of the annual 60-day pilgrimage on 28th June.

Official said, the yatris left in a fleet of 134 vehicles under tight security arrangements early today and are expected to reach Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in the valley later in the day.

The 60-day yatra is scheduled to conclude on 26th August coinciding with the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ festival.
