AICC drops Azad from disciplinary committee day after supporters in J&K resign from party posts

Jammu: A Day after his supporters in Jammu and Kashmir resigned from party post, All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Thursday dropped him from its disciplinary committee.

 

“Congress revamped its disciplinary committee and dropped Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sushil Kumar Shinde from its disciplinary committee,” a report said.

Excluding former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, several senior Congress leaders of Jammu and Kashmir known as loyalists of former Chief Minister of erstwhile state Ghulam Nabi Azad, have reportedly resigned from respective party positions.

“Alleging that they are being denied from opportunities in party affairs by incumbent JKPCC Chief, over 10 leaders have resigned from party posts. They addressed resignation to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and copy of the same was also forwarded to Rahul Gandhi as well as Rajni Patil, AICC Incharge Secretary for J&K,” a party insider told The Dispatch.

Prominent among those, who have submitted the resignation, included G M Saroori, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vikar Rasool, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Naresh Gupta, Subash Gupta, Amin Bhat, Anwar Bhat, Inayat Ali and others.
