Taking tough action against the illegal mining by stone crusher owners in nallah Mawar in Langate, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Peerzada Muzaffar Monday warned those involved in illegal mining of a massive crackdown in the coming days.
The ADC said they sealed three to four tractors in the latest drive. “But we are not satisfied with this as we are looking for the JCBs involved in the illegal mining. The drive will continue and in the coming days there will be a massive crackdown against the illegal miners,” he warned.
“We have sealed some stone crushers in the area already,” the ADC added.
It is pertinent to mention here that two young boys were drowned in the area in the last two weeks as illegal miners are extracting sand and bajri from the nallah against the norms.
The action by the district administration against the illegal miners came after The Dispatch reported the issue on July 14.
