Srinagar: An army jawan deployed on the Line of Control in Tarkundi Balakote area was injured in a land mine explosion.

As per details, the jawan received injuries in his foot in the explosion during routine patrolling.

He was shifted to local army hospital where he is under treatment and is out of danger, said sources.

Meanwhile, heavy firing exchanges took place on Saturday between Indian and Pakistani troopers on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, a defence official said.

“At around 1.30 p.m. today, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling mortars and firing of small arms along the LoC in the Mankote sector,” Defence Ministry spokesman Lt. Col Devender Anand said.

“Our positions effectively retaliated. The firing exchanges were continuing,” he added.
