5 persons injured in Kupwara two-vehicle crash

KUPWARA: At least five persons were injured after two vehicles collided along Kupwara-Sopore highway at Awatkul of Natnussa in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district this morning.

Reports said that an ‘Alto 800’ bearing registration number JK09A 2951 and ‘Espresso’ car bearing registration number JK09A 6170 collided, resulting in injuries to five persons. The injured persons have been identified as; Mushtaq Ahmad Ahangar (40) son of Abdul Aziz Ahanger his wife Saleema Begum and daughter Madiha Jan, residents of Hirri Kupwara and Nawaz Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Hassan Shah of Tanghdar and Faroz Ahmad.

The injured were removed for treatment to a nearby hospital, from where one, Saleema Begum, was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for preferential treatment.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that they have taken cognizance of the incident. (GNS)
