Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have penalized 4000 people in last one week for not adhering lockdown guideline across the Union Territory.
“The lockdown was imposed in the backdrop of massive spurt in COVID cases but some people are not following guidelines and not even wearing face mask, prompting police take strict action,” Police official told The Dispatch.
In the last one week, the police have taken action against four thousand people who violated the Corona curfew and imposed a fine of Rs 7 lakh . Most of these people have been caught walking in the market without wearing masks.
According to the information received from the police, in the last one week, 3823 people have been caught not wearing masks in 10 districts of Jammu division. 12 people have been caught not following social distance. 103 people were arrested in the division for not following the lockdown and police have registered 91 FIRs in this case.
Police has also charged a fine of Rs 7 Lakh 70 thousand from these people. Maximum FIRs have been registered in Jammu district and Poonch. There are 74 FIRs in Jammu and 16 in Poonch. Jammu has the maximum number of arrests at 86 and Poonch at 16.
