40 thousand COVID patients using E-Sanjeevani platform on a daily basis

E-Sanjeevani platform is proving beneficial for the patients in getting the health services related to COVID-19. This flagship national telemedicine service of the Health Ministry has already served more than 50 lakh patients in the country. The Health and Family Welfare Ministry has said that the eSanjeevani initiative is operational in 31 States and Union Territories. It said, around 40 thousand patients across the country are using this health care service facility on a daily basis. It added that over 15 hundred doctors serve patients daily through this platform.

As the country is witnessing a higher load of COVID-19 cases, few states are working towards rolling out special home isolation OPDs wherein the patients will be screened for COVID-19 by final year MBBS students. In addition to this, management of eSanjeevani is also working to add another innovative feature in eSanjeevani OPD that will enable roll out of National OPDs on eSanjeevani OPD. This mechanism will enable doctors to offer remote health services to patients in any part of the country. This step will help in fulfilling the shortage and uneven distribution of doctors and specialists in various parts of the country.
