3 ‘Unidentified’ Persons Detained Over Alleged Molestation, Abduction Bid on Minor Girl in Bandipora

Srinagar, Feb 10: Three persons have been detained by police in Chewa area of Bandipora district over accusations of molestation and making of an abduction bid on a local girl on Wednesday afternoon.

Reports reaching news agency aid that situation went awry in the area after three persons on board a vehicle tried to molest and made bid to abduct a 9-year-old girl. The girl raised hue and cry which alerted the locals, who rushed the spot to rescue the victim.

All the three persons were held besides the vehicle on the spot and police informed about it, a local said.

A police team visited the spot and have taken the trio into custody, he said.

Meanwhile contacted SSP Bandipora, Rahul Malik told news agency that they have detained three persons and investigations set in motion after allegations made by locals about them of attempting to molest and abduct a minor girl.

When asked about the identity of the detained persons, the official however said that they are ascertaining the identity of alleged persons, adding that “Information will be shared accordingly once the allegations are corroborated.”
