2604 under detention in different jails: Govt

The Government here on Tuesday disclosed that 13 militancy related convicts including 7 foreign nationals, 215 Common law convicts including 12 foreign nationals, 150 militancy related undertrails including 20 foreign nationals, 1980 common law undertrials including 30 foreign nationals, 63 militancy related detenues, 16 NDPS detenues and 98 other detenues are lodged in different jails within and outside the state.

In a written reply to a question raises by MLA Langate Er Rashid, the government however sighted security reasons for not disclosing the particulars of detainees, undertrails and convicts. The government also said that the details of detainees lodged in various jails outside the state are not maintained in the home department the port folio of which is held by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti herself.
