Across the decades of 1970s and 1980s, Kashmiri youth and intellectuals strongly connected with the developments in the Muslim world. Events in Pakistan, Iran and Palestine often led to massive protests and demonstrations in Kashmir. This photograph is of 1986 showing Kashmiri youth protesting for the cause of Palestine. Some of those seen in this picture, including Yasin Malik, later became militants.
