LeT Commander, Another Militant Involved In BJP leader’s Killing Killed In Bandipora

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday identified two militants killed at Watnira area of Bandipora as Azad shah and Abid Haqqani.

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said  while Abid was District Commander of Lashker-e-Toiba while Azad was involved in the killing of BJP leader Sheikh Waseem Bari along with his brother Umar Sultan and father Bashir Ahmad Sheikh on 8 July 2020.

Soon after the attack Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that Azad and another militant were involved in the attack.

The top police officer of Kashmir had also placed under suspension 11 PSOs of the BJP leader.

The two militants were killed in a gunfight with police and army at Watnira area. “Two unidentified militants have been killed. Searches are going on,” a police official said, adding, “Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition recovered”. (GNS)
