Jammu: The government on Wednesday said that the 165 militants have been killed and 14 apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir in last 12 months.
“During the last 12 months from December 2020 up to Nov 26, 14 terrorists have been apprehended &165 terrorists killed,” MoS Home Nityanand Rai in Rajya Sabha
He added that the 32 Security Forces personnel and 19 J&K Police personnel lost their lives in action during October 2020 -October 2021.
He also informed that the total of 417 terrorist incidents was reported in 2018. This year (till NOV 21), a total of 244 terrorist incidents was reported.
He further said that a total of 143 incidents of infiltration took place in 2018. Only 28 infiltration incidents were recorded this year (till Nov).
He also said that the an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 lakh is paid to the Next of the Kins of civilians killed in terrorism-related violence under the existing scheme of J&K Govt.
“In addition, Rs 5 lakhs is given under a separate Central scheme,” MoS Home said.
He also added that in Oct 2021 around 115 Kashmiri Pandit families living in Kashmir moved to Jammu. “These families are of govt employees, many of whom, move to Jammu in winter as part of movement of officials&winter vacation in education institutions,” he said.
Earlier, a militant commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Yasir Parray and a foreign ultra were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.
The encounter took place at Qasbayar area of the south Kashmir district.
Two terrorists were killed in the encounter, they said.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said one of the slain was Parray, commander of JeM and an IED expert.
