Jammu: In a significant development atleast 15 districts Jammu and Kashmir has completed 100% vaccination of all above 45 years of age.
“With Kathua and Kishtwar districts completing 100% vaccination of all above 45 years of age category on Sunday, 15 districts have now achieved this milestone in the UT of J&K,” an official said.
Now only five districts are left in the entire UT to achieve 100% coverage of the 18-44 age group with the first dose. However it is a matter of few days these districts achieve the feet as they are near saturation with over 95 % coverage.
Now, eight districts in Kashmir valley and five districts have inoculated its entire population in 45 above category. 3,67, 797 and 1,28,913 vaccine shorts across all age categories have been administered in the Kathua and Kishtwar districts respectively so far.
Now among the slowest in the vaccination drive in the entire UT included Reasi with 95.27 % and Udhampur has only vaccinated 95.53% of its population in the category so far. Three districts in Jammu region have yet to achieve the feet, while Doda is near saturation with over 96 % coverage.
The overall Vaccine coverage of J&K in 45plus population is 99.58% which among best among many regions of the country.
So far, Jammu and Kashmir has vaccinated approximately 51 lakh people constituting 40% of its eligible population with the first dose. The vaccinated population also includes 100% vaccination in above 45 years age category and 32% vaccination in 18- 45 age category.
As per the vaccination data from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, JK has administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to 52,64,137 people as on August 8. The figure represents 41.4 percent of JK’s 1.25 crore population. Full vaccination (both doses) has been given to 14, 28,185 people which represent 11.4 percent of the population.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is aiming at covering 60% of its population by the August end.
The J&K government has set the target of covering 60% of population by this month. At present as many as 5,62,000 vaccine doses are available with J&K, while couple of days back Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta had requested the union home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla to provide 60 lakh additional doses of vaccination so as to enable the UT to universally vaccinate its eligible population at the earliest.
So far, Jammu and Kashmir has vaccinated approximately 51 lakh people constituting 40% of its eligible population with the first dose. The vaccinated population also includes 100% vaccination in above 45 years age category and 31% vaccination in 18- 45 age category.
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha while chairing the weekly meetings with members of Covid Task Force stressed that dedicated focus must be given on timely inoculation of 2nd dose, besides ensuring 100% coverage of the 18-44 age group with the first dose.
