12 districts in J&K achieved 100 % target of vaccinating all in 45 plus group

Jammu: Despite initial vaccine hesitancy, the Kashmir Valley is moving towards completing 100% vaccination of all above 45 years of age category with only two out of the ten districts only lagging behind in achieving the milestone.

The Covid-19 vaccination in Jammu and Kashmir is going on in full swing as on Sunday, Anantnag became the 12 district across the Union Territory in Jammu and Kashmir to achieve that feet, with eighth in the Kashmir division to vaccinate its 45plus population with Covid-19 vaccine.  3,44, 052 vaccine shorts across all age categories have been administered in the district.

Now Srinagar with 82.51 % and Kupwara with lowest in entire UT has only vaccinated 69.90% of its population in the category so far. Six districts in Jammu region have yet to achieve the feet, while Kishtwar and Kathua are near saturation with over 90% coverage.

The overall Vaccine coverage of J&K in 45plus population is 97.95% which among best among many regions of the country.  The data reveals that in Jammu region, Udhampur has covered 85.98% of its population in the category, Kathua 90.70%, Ramban 87.74%, Doda 85.92%, Kishtwar 93.06 and Reasi has vaccinated 86.72% of its people.  

Couple of days back, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha while expressing satisfaction over the vaccination percentage directed the remaining districts which are lagging behind to adopt a more proactive approach and micro-level planning to meet the targets.

He said that with continuous augmentation of health infrastructure and decentralization of health system with accelerated vaccination drive, better management of patients and other crucial timely interventions, J&K Government has created a greater Covid clinical management capacity reforming healthcare delivery system.

Till date 51, 48,444 vaccine doses have been administered in the J&K across all the categorists with 43, 13,398 first and 8,35,046 as second doses. On Sunday, 32, 038 vaccine shots were administrated across J&K at 1184 government health facilities and three private facilities.  

The district which have completed the vaccination of all above 45 years of age include Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Samba .

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has already missed two deadlines to vaccinate all above 45 years of age.
