11 arrested for pelting stones, damaging official vehicles during anti-encroachment in Reasi  

Police sources said that the Housing Board team assisted by the police on Saturday visited the Gram Morh of Reasi town to vacate the encroached land where they were pelted by stones by some people.

Jammu: Police on Saturday arrested as many as 11 people for pelting stones at the police and Housing Board teams during an anti-encroachment drive in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Police sources said that the Housing Board team assisted by the police on Saturday visited the Gram Morh of Reasi town to vacate the encroached land where they were pelted by stones by some people.

 

“During a ding dong battle, some official vehicles were also damaged,” they added. However, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Shailendra Singh confirmed about the incident and said that 11 people have been taken into custody in this regard.

 

He said that a case has been registered under FIR number 222 and booked under sections 307, 353, 332, 336, 447, 427, 147, 148, 149 of IPC. The matter is being investigated, said the SSP.
